The BHL-4204 mineral filter is designed to fit into the 2nd filter position on theBHL 4200 Alkazone ionized water fountain.  Alkaline water machines really require mineral in the water in order to provide alkaline water as the final product.  This filter is a must if your water supply is low in Total Dissolved Solids (less than 100ppm/L.)   if the water is coming from a reverse osmosis system the water will be low in dissolved solids and require a mineral filter.
