With that said this model is suited for water that has a mineral content or TDS between 70 ppm to 400 ppm or equivalent to 3gpg to 22gpg of hardness minerals. For low mineral content in the water see the BHL-4200.   Beware of  Fluoride, Nitrate or Nitrites present in the water source.
