Cleaning Ceramic Water Filter Cartridge or Candle
Due to filtration of particulates in the water, the flow of the water from the filter may diminish over a period of time. To restore the water flow to its normal rate, simply remove the filter form the housing, clean and replace the cartridge as follows:
IMPORTANT
1. The filter is suitable only for cold water use. Therefore use only cold water for cleaning. Do not use any soap or detergents.
2. It is important to wear rubber gloves or wash your hands thoroughly before and after servicing the filter.
3. Care must be taken at all times to prevent contamination of the end of the cartridge mount from contact with unfiltered water or dirty hands from cleaning the cartridge surface.
4. Use a clean scouring pad.
Hold the filter element in a bowl of water or under running water, taking care to ensure that the open ended plastic mount is clear of the water - to avoid contamination.
Take a clean kitchen scouring pad in one hand and cup it around the circumference of the filter element at the top - next to the mount.
Hold the candle surface with the kitchen pad, while turning the element with the other hand.
Apply an even pressure with the scouring pad and slowly work down the length of the filter element. Make sure the cleaning is uniform on the whole candle.
Cup the kitchen pad around the bottom, domed end of the ceramic and clean by applying gentle pressure and rotating the candle a few times.
It is important to insure that the cleaning of the ceramic is not concentrated in one area before rinsing any cleaning debris from the surface of the candle.
Replace the candle according to the installation instructions supplied with your filter.
